That's right! I'm basing my research on several games to get a better sampling. I made a general template and you're right that I should have tailored it better for GW because it's fairly unique. I just want to congratulate the general Guild Wars player base. As I stated before, I also chose two other games to gather data from. So far, the only people that have been friendly and polite are the folks here. My thread on a WoW forum was deleted due to internet tough guys that are all too common in that game. And I have gotten no responses from WAR players due to their general self-centered attitude.

A persons' gender is different to their sex. You asked for people's gender and wanted to know their sex and so a huge problem maybe caused by your mistake.

As someone directly impacted by this kind of distinction (trans) I'm pretty sure gender is the only thing that matters for this particular study.

In the OP study, he\she asked for our characters gender and our characters don't have a gender directly. If everyone's characters had each of their own actions interdependent of the player and other characters then they might develop a gender. I do understand how the players' sex and gender would impact the study but asking for the characters gender is impossible because they're is zero gender performance by the characters themselves in the game.

But everyone is impacted of the difference between gender and sex, but I do understand where you coming from.

The thing that I hate about questionares is that they often take a very roud about way of asking some straight forward questions.

I will give you both the questions that I think you really should have asked and my answers.

Do you try and pick a character in games that most closely matches your own race? Yes
Do you try and pick a character gender based on your own real life gender? Yes
Does being forced to play a gender/race that does not match your own turn you off of a particular game? No
When playing as a race/gender other than your own are you more likely to avoid playing with other people, PvP or grouping in PvE? No

On a scale of 1 to 10 how much of your characters personality is invented solely for that game? 4
